The Bible – Proof of its Inspiration

The Bible was written over a period of 1500 years – from the time of Moses to the Revelation by John.

There were approximately 40 authors of the Bible, of whom most did not know each other.

The Bible was written in three different languages – Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic.

There are 66 books in the Bible – 39 in the OT, and 27 in the NT. Every one of them either directly or indirectly point to Jesus Christ.

There are no contradictions in the Bible because every verse was inspired by God.

Why Are Churches Splitting

THE SINS OF THE CULTURE INEVITABLY BECOME THE SINS OF THE CHURCH

From the book “The Coming Apostasy, Mark Hitchcock and Jeff Kinley describe what is happening in today’s culture, and how we need to approach apostasy in our churches.

Reach Out After we secure our own spiritual health and stability, Jude calls us to lovingly reach out to those around us who are the victims of the false teachers. Jude highlights three groups of people that need help.

The first group is the doubters. Verse 22 states, “Have mercy on some, who are doubting.” In days of falling away and departure from the truth, we are surrounded by believers who are confused, wavering, and hesitating. False teachers prey upon the weak. I meet professing Christians regularly who struggle with all sorts of doubts about the truth of the Bible, the exclusivity of Jesus, the nature of God, and the meaning of life. For those drowning in doubt and confusion, we’re to meet them with compassion and mercy.

Second, we need to reach out to the deceived. Verse 23 says, “Save others, snatching them out of the fire.” The only other time Jude uses the word “fire” is in verse 7, which refers to the fire of judgment, so I believe the same meaning is intended here. These are people in great spiritual peril. When sound doctrine is under siege, as it is today, we need to be on the lookout for those who are deceived and to allow God to use us to share the gospel with them so they can be snatched out of the fire. Their false ideologies must be confronted and exposed by the power of God’s truth.

The final group who needs the touch of God’s people is the defiled. Verse 23 tells us, “On some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.” These are people who have been overcome, contaminated, and polluted by the filth of this world. As moral standards, even within churches, continue to slide, moral apostasy will hold more and more people in its clutches. The sins of the culture inevitably become the sins of the church. For those overtaken by sin, we’re to have mercy on them with compassion. But Jude adds this caveat: “hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.” The “garment polluted by the flesh” literally refers to undergarments soiled by human excretions. This means we’re to have an aversion or loathing for the sin in other people’s lives just as we would hate to handle someone else’s dirty underwear. We’re to have a healthy fear of sin and maintain a wariness of getting too close to prevent our own defilement. Dealing with sin requires caution and a healthy fear.
